“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
-Benjamin
Franklin
Benjamin Franklin was right:
- Thousands of people are injured or die
in Iowa from drug and alcohol
related diseases and accidents.
- Hundreds of millions of dollars
are spent on health care,
law enforcement, corrections and human services from substance abuse related
problems.
There is good news:
- Drug use of children and adolescents
is progressively dropping
in Jasper County, thanks to prevention efforts such as mentoring, community
coalitions and other strategies.
- People prevented from
abusing substances or those
in
recovery are holding jobs, raising healthy children, paying
taxes and contributing to
our communities.
