Clinical Director
Fred Franck, Clinical Director is a native Iowan who graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and from the University of Iowa with a Masters Degree in Social Work. He has over 30 years experience in the social services and mental health fields. He is an Iowa Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Independent Social Worker. He also holds a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. He volunteered and provided services to the Red Cross Mental Health Disaster Team in Washington, D.C. following the attacks of September 11.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Cindy joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in July 2007 as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her primary focus is adult and chronic psychiatric care in Jasper and Marion Counties. She also holds certification as a certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.
Cindy comes to us from Eyerly-Ball Mental Health Center in Des Moines where she has provided outpatient psychiatric care and Iowa Health Systems where she continues to offer acute inpatient psychiatric care.
Cindy received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and her Post-Master’s Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Rush University in Chicago. She is currently working on a Doctorate in Nursing Practice – Psychiatry Specialty from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Megan Berryhill, ARNP joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in January 2008. She previously worked in public policy and human services before returning to school for a mid-life career change.
Megan has a Master’s from the University of Illinois, Chicago, psychiatric nurse practitioner program and is ANCC board certified in family psychiatry. Megan’s specialties are working with children and women with psychiatric concerns. She works primarily in the Newton facility.

Suzanne Rozendaal is a Licensed Masters Social Worker. She joined Capstone in 2006 after graduating from the University of Iowa School of Social Work. Her primary practice includes working with adults and adolescents experiencing problems with: Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Parenting Issues, and Co-occurring Mental Health and Substance abuse Issues. Primary treatment approaches include: Cognitive, Behavioral, Solution-Focused and Narrative Therapy.

Licensed Independent Social Worker
Pat Van Zante incorporates cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused therapy and structured approaches into her work with clients. Pat is the intake specialist, and provides comprehensive evaluation for all clients seeking Capstone Behavioral Healthcare mental health and substance abuse services as well as children from 3 to 18 years old. Pat's areas of expertise include:

Pat received a master of social work degree from the University of Iowa and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She has provided clinical social work throughout Iowa for 23 years. She has been providing individual and group therapy with Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in the Newton and Knoxville offices since 2000, and she has been Capstone Behavioral Healthcare's Intake Specialist since March 2007.

Pat earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa In 2007 and joined Capstone in 2008. Her primary treatment approaches are cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and strengths-based, and she has a passion for assisting clients who want to address spiritual concerns and/or develop their spirituality as a resource. Pat enjoys working with families, couples, and individuals of all ages who are experiencing problems with:

, CADC, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Larry made Newton his home in 1988, moving here to become the PGA head golf pro at Newton Country Club. After retiring from that position, Larry attended DMACC, graduating on the President’s List for Academic Achievement. He completed his internship at Powell CDC at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines in 2006. Larry joined the Capstone Behavioral Healthcare staff in May of 2007, working primarily in our Marion County offices.
, CADC, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Jim is a part-time substance abuse counselor and has been in the Newton area for more than 40 years. He came to Kellogg, Iowa in 1968 to minister to two small churches in Kellogg and Galesburg, Iowa. While there, he graduated from Drake University with a degree in Theology. Over the years he has worked in food and beverage management, private club management, and after 19 years, retired from Maytag Receiving. He graduated from DMACC, interned at Iowa Lutheran, became a certified counselor, and was hired by Capstone in May 2006. He and his wife, Annie, are the parents of two grown daughters and a granddaughter. Jim’s other interests include golf, golf, and golf.

Ray, who is a Licensed Independent Social Worker, joined the clinical staff at Capstone in 2009. His primary practice is with adults and children experiencing problems including:

Michael earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2007, and joined Capstone in 2009. His primary treatment approaches are cognitive-behavioral, exposure, and meaning therapies all conducted through a humanistic approach. He has a passion for working with people who have a history of trauma. Michael enjoys working with a diverse set of clients of all ages, from all walks of life, who want help with their problems, or to simply improve their lives and self. Michael works with:
