Director of Community Support Programs
Connie joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in June of 2002. She administers the services provided in the Residential and Community based programs such as Supported Community Living, Community Support Services and Representative Payee. Connie has twenty seven years of experience in direct services, social work and management of community support programs.
She has Bachelors of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Services from Drake University.
Community Based Services Program Coordinator
Joe attended both Des Moines Area Community College and Drake University. He joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare’s Community Based Services Program in June 2002. Joe has over twenty years of Human Service experience beginning with geriatric nursing, Occupational/Physical Therapy Assistant, and as a caseworker with the Iowa Department of Human Services in their County Community Interaction Program. This program was absorbed by Capstone Behavioral Healthcare and is now the Community Based Services Program. Joe has ten years of experience working with adult persons in the community with chronic mental illness, mental retardation and developmental disabilities assisting with everyday activities that enable these individuals to live as independently as possible.
Community Based Service Worker
Kris attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and also Hesston College in Kansas. Kris has worked in the human service field since 1986 working with children with disabilities at Faith, Hope and Charity in Storm Lake, activities director at Heritage Manor in Newton, case aide for Department of Human Services supervising home visits with parents and their child(ren) in foster care, conducting home visits on childcare providers to check on regulation compliance and currently with the CBS program at Capstone working with adults with chronic mental illness, mental retardation and developmental disabilities. Kris joined the program July 2002 and works with approximately 20 consumers assisting them with community skills such as budgeting, laundry skills, grocery shopping, medication monitoring and medical appointments.
Community Based Service Worker
Kristi began at Capstone in July of 2005 in the residential program. She joined the CBS program in September of 2006. She has worked in the human service field since 2001. Her experience includes working with adults with mental retardation to working with children with developmental disabilities. She received her BA in psychology and human services from Buena Vista University in June 2006.
Registered Nurse
Lois attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa and graduated from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked as a registered nurse in hospital settings in Valparaiso, Indiana and in Newton, Iowa before beginning work at Capstone in 1995. Initially, she worked part time in the residential program at Capstone, supervising medication and medical needs of the residents and overseeing medication policies and procedures. Since becoming full time on the staff in 1999, she has worked more closely with the doctor and professionals in the clinic setting, while continuing to work with the residential program.
Registered Nurse
Marlys joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in 2004. She graduated from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing and has many years of medical-surgical nursing experience. Marlys assists uninsured clients with medication needs through utilization of Patient Assistance Programs.
Residential Manager
Julie joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in August of 2005. She develops programming for persons with chronic mental illnesses residing in the residential programs. Julie oversees the day to day operations of the residential program and provides training for the staff that provide direct care to the persons in the program. Julie has worked with persons with disabilities for several years. She began her career at Behavioral Technologies providing direct care to persons with mental retardation and serving as a program coordinator. Julie has had experience working at Broadlawns residential serving persons with chronic mental illness. She has also worked at On With Life serving persons with traumatic brain injuries.
Community Support Services/Case Worker
Sue joined Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in November, 2006. She provides community support services in Marion County, both in Pella and in Knoxville. Sue works with individuals with chronic mental illness, supporting them in achieving their goals, and regaining abilities affected by their illness.Sue received her BA in Sociology from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. She has twenty-five years experience working with individuals with disabilities and their families. Most recently she worked as a Case Manager for Ladder, Inc. which provided a unique supported community living option in Holland, Michigan. She has also worked as an Advocate, Support Circles Coordinator, Respite Coordinator, and a Residential Supervisor.
